About

Exodus Road India Foundation

The Exodus Road India Foundation is an independent foundation based in rural India. We disrupt the darkness of modern-day slavery by partnering with law enforcement to fight human trafficking crime, equipping communities to protect the vulnerable, and empowering survivors as they walk into freedom.

As part of the global network of The Exodus Road, we work in alignment with a shared mission while maintaining our independence to address the unique needs of the communities we serve. Our work has been strengthened through the ongoing support, resources, and specialized training we receive through this affiliation, which directly empowers our efforts on the ground.

01 — Intervention & Care

Reshaping how interventions are carried out in rural India.

An intervention occurs when law enforcement steps in to arrest traffickers and free victims. The Exodus Road India Foundation works closely with local police and law enforcement to ensure this process is conducted with the sensitivity and care that survivors deserve. Our collaborative approach is reshaping the way interventions are carried out in rural India.

Social workers arrive equipped with care kits and remain with each survivor through the rescue, providing consistent advocacy and support.

Our job is to give them comfort and courage — comfort because of what they have been through, and courage to speak the truth.

Shyam Kamble

03 — Our Leadership
Portrait of Shyam Kamble, Country Director of The Exodus Road India Foundation

Our Country Director, Shyam, has dedicated his life to combating human trafficking in India — a commitment that is deeply personal. A traumatic experience within his own family brought him face to face with the reality of this crime, and it became the defining force behind his life's work.

With years of experience across several non-profit organizations, including the International Justice Mission, Shyam identified a critical gap — most NGOs concentrate their efforts in urban centers, leaving rural communities without awareness or support. Yet it is in these remote areas where trafficking begins and where the most vulnerable are left without protection.

Driven by this reality, Shyam and his sister founded The Exodus Road India Foundation in affiliation with The Exodus Road, with a clear mission: to reach every part of India with a particular focus on the most remote districts to end sexual violence against children.

Shyam believes that society must unconditionally stand behind every child who has been freed from trafficking, ensuring they have access to a brighter future and meaningful opportunities. He is resolute in his belief that this work, though demanding, is carried forward by those who choose it from the heart.

If communities come together and each person contributes in whatever way they can, more children can be saved.
